Trapper Himes Bear Camp was started in 1953 with one hunter, one bait station, and one dead bear! It has been in business Ever Since.

We pride ourselves on our Service and Reputation, which our Repeat Customers attest to. Our oldest hunter just completed his 23rd year with us.

We have Taken a lot of bears, but we still learn from Each of them.

The 2008 bear hunt in Minnesota had an overall success rate of about 15%, the rate in our camp was once again over 50% with opportunity at 65%. We started a little slower, with all the natural food and warm weather, but once we figured out what the bears wanted we did well.

2009 will be a very important milestone for our camp. We will take bear number 1,000 since 1953! We will be giving a nice memento to the hunter that takes this bear for us.

Be sure to check the DNR website for lottery info. We will be booking in January and February.

2008 Bear Hunt Season

We have a five day hunt with two packages:

Hunt #1

Bait Only - We gaurantee a legal bear is hitting your bait. We do All baiting. Hunter is responsible for Board & Room, Transportation, etc.

We charge $35.00 hr. for Extra help from guides, (gutting, tracking etc).

There are many Resorts and Campgrounds in the area. We are very close to Lake Kabetogama which has great walleye & Northern fishing.

Area 25 Adjoins Voyaguer's National Park.

Hunt #2

This is the complete package. We pretty much do Everything but brush your teeth! We furnish: Board & Room (3 Complete Home Cooked Meals in a Comfortable Modern Log Lodge) Active baits, gutting, Tracking, dragging, Skinning & FREEZER
